Mr. Sharma has done great work in the field of Education and thus his able in this field can’t be questioned at all.
If you look at the above sentence, you will find that the sentence is incorrect. It is because “Able (adjective)” has been used in place of “Ability (noun)”. A noun generally answers “what” and hence we must use a noun whenever we need an answer of “what”.
But, how can we know whether a word is a noun or not? For this, we need to understand Formation of Nouns.
Nouns are formed using noun suffixes or by omitting other suffixes.
For example ,Noun from of fail is ”fail +ure ”=failure, dictate + tion = dictation and courageous – ous = courage .
Nouns are generally formed from verbs or adjectives. Sometimes, nouns are formed from other nouns also.
