How to Write Essay in English Format

1. Descriptive Essay: When we write to explain how a place, thing, or anything else appears, we make a descriptive essay. These essays give detailed explanations of living creatures such as elephants, foxes, cows, and more. They also cover non-living things like countries, towns, villages, roads, and scenes in nature like sunsets, thunderstorms, volcanoes, and similar events.

2. Narrative Essay: Essays related to events are called narrative essays. It may consist of historical as well as contemporary events, lives of great personalities, anecdotes and incidents even of the most ordinary kind, and the description of religious festivals.

3. Imaginative Essay: It comes from the writer’s imagination. The topic can be a made-up story or the life story of an object. For instance, think about a book writing its own story. Because there aren’t real facts about these things, it’s all about what the writer pictures in their mind. The writer should aim to make their essay enjoyable and captivating.

4. Expository Essay: It is an exposition or explanation of some subjects. Here the writer is called upon to explain or expound his ideas or arguments. The following subjects are suitable for his classification as (a) organisation, Chipko Movement, industries and occupation like the manufacture of silk, gardening (b) scientific topic like the radio, and (c) literary topics as the history of writing.

5. Reflective Essay: It consists of thoughts and reflections on a subject, often of an abstract nature it may deal with the truth of a proverb, a quotation or a maxim touch on social and political matters, discuss any burning question of the day, or dilate on philosophical, and moral themes.

TIPS & ADVICE TO WRITE A ESSAY

→ An essay should not show a negative view, or make it seem like the writer worked really hard and struggled, or that the author wrote it without enjoying the fun of being creative. It should sound positive and inspire the reader in a good way.

→ When you read the essay topic, think about everything you know about it. Use your brain and remember things to find what you need. Then, try to connect all the ideas you have about the subject. Also, write down any events, examples, or pictures that come to your mind related to the topic.

→ Your next step is to arrange the various ideas, examples etc. in a logical order. Never write at random or in a haphazard manner.

→ With this rough outline of the main ideas before you, go on expanding each idea into a separate paragraph. Never write a continuous, unbroken essay. Logical division into paragraph is essential.

→ Write short sentences. Do not aim at long sentences as you are sure to lose the connection and make the construction faulty. Only a very experienced writer can handle long sentences successfully.

→ Moreover, you should write in neat and clean handwriting using the required punctuation marks. You should also finish your essay in prescribed words.
