Summary of Chapter 3 The Midnight Visitor – Footprints without Feet Class 10th
This story is about a clever secret agent named Ausable. He was spending time with his writer friend Fowler in the evening. However, Fowler soon realized that Ausable was quite different from what he had imagined.
Ausable told Fowler that he had been mistaken, and he was actually going to review a very important report that could change the future of their country. They both went to Ausable’s room, but when they entered, they found another man named Max holding a gun. Max asked them to stay calm while they waited for reports about missiles to arrive.
Meeting a secret agent like Ausable was quite an adventurous experience for Fowler. During their conversation, Ausable began telling a story about an imaginary balcony below his room’s window.
While they were talking, someone kept knocking at the door. Ausable explained that the police often came to check on him and his room. Max, who had a gun, pointed it at them and said that he would be waiting on the balcony. Ausable needed to send the police away, or Max would shoot them.
Just as someone loudly turned the doorknob, Max quickly jumped out of the window, and they heard a loud scream. The door opened, and a waiter walked in. The waiter explained that he had brought the wine that Ausable had ordered. He placed the bottle, tray, and glasses on the table and left.
Fowler was surprised by all of this and asked about the police. Ausable responded that there was no police. Fowler then inquired about Max, who was supposed to be waiting on the balcony outside the window. Ausable replied that Max wouldn’t be coming back because there was no balcony there at all.
This demonstrates how clever Ausable was in using the situation to make Max anxious. Because of his nervousness, Max hastily jumped out of the window without thinking. Unfortunately, he jumped from a high floor of the hotel and lost his life. So, Ausable’s quick thinking helped him outsmart Max and escape from a very dangerous situation.
Conclusion of The Midnight Visitor
The main lesson from this story is that no matter what happens, it’s important not to panic. Instead, we should stay calm and think carefully to deal with the situation effectively.
