What is a Sentence?

Hello students, Today I am going to discuss a sentence and its related terms. In this post, I will cover what is a sentence? Its Parts and Kinds according to the functions and structures. As we know if one wants to learn English whether spoken English or written English you need to know a it in great details because what we speak or write is a sentence.

नमस्कार छात्रों, आज मैं एक वाक्य और उससे संबंधित चीजों पर चर्चा करने जा रहा हूँ। इस पोस्ट में, मैं कवर करूँगा कि एक वाक्य क्या है? कार्यों और संरचनाओं के अनुसार इसके भाग और प्रकार। जैसा कि हम जानते हैं कि यदि कोई अंग्रेजी सीखना चाहता है, चाहे वह स्पोकन इंग्लिश या रिटेन इंग्लिश हो, आपको वाक्य का ज्ञान होना बहुत जरुरी है। इंग्लिश में सेंटेंस का बहुत ही ज्यादा महत्व है। यह पोस्ट हिन्दी और इंग्लिश मध्यम वालो दोनों के हेल्पफुल होगा।

A group of word which has a finite verb, a subject and a logical meaning is called a sentence. To make a sentence correct there should be a grammatical structure and a logical. If it fails to convey a logical meaning, it cannot be called a sentence.

इंग्लिश में वाक्य उस शब्द समूह को कहते है जिसमे एक सब्जेक्ट और एक Finite Verb हो तथा उसका एक लॉजिकल अर्थ हो।

Examples:-

She has done her work.

उसने अपना काम किया है।

We are Indians.

हम भारतीय हैं।

He is a friend of mine.

वह मेरे सभी दोस्तों में एक है।

Have you ever been to Mumbai?

क्या आप कभी मुंबई गए हैं?

Shall we win the match today?

क्या आज हम मैच जीतेंगे?

I shall have completed this task by the end of this week.

इस सप्ताह के अंत तक मैं इस काम को पूरा कर चुकूँगा।

What is a Subject?

The subject of a sentence is a noun or its equivalent that does the action or which is said about. The subject may be a noun, a pronoun, a gerund, an infinitive, a clause or prepositional phrase. 

किसी वाक्य का Subject कोई Noun या उसी के समान कोई दूसरा शव्द जो किसी काम को करता है या जिसके बारे में कुछ कहा जाता है। किसी Sentence कस Subject कोई Noun, Pronoun, Gerund, Infinitive, Clause या कोई Prepositional Phrase हो सकता है।

She will speak English.

वह अंग्रेजी बोलेंगी।

I was not helping you.

मैं आपकी मदद नहीं कर रहा था।

They are learning spoken English.

वे स्पोकन अंग्रेजी सीख रहे हैं।

The students of our schools are good at speaking English.

हमारे स्कूलों के छात्र अंग्रेजी बोलने में अच्छे हैं।

She has bought a book that is good for spoken English learners.

उसने एक किताब खरीदी है जो स्पोकन अंग्रेजी सीखने वालों के लिए अच्छी है।

What is a Sentence?

Trick to Find out the Subject

If you find out the subject in the sentence first find out the verb and then ask a question with ‘Who‘ or ‘What‘, the answer you get is the subject. In 95 percent cases, you will need ‘Who‘ and the rest is ‘What‘.

Who + Verb = Subject (Generally Living One)

What + Verb = Subject (Generally Non-Living One)

Now Do Practice and Find out the Subject

She is speaking English.

Q. Who is she speaking English?

Answer:- She (Subject)

Radha had achieved everything in her life.

Q. Who has achieved everything in her life?

Answer:- Radha (Subject)

What is a verb?

A verb is word which shows an action, state or being. A word which shows ‘Doing, happening or being’ is called a verb.

Examples

They are playing cricket. (Doing)

It is raining heavily. (Happening)

She is beautiful. (State)

What is an object?

An object is a noun its equivalent that receives the action or is affected by the action.

Types of Object

1. Direct Object :- When there is only one object in the sentence is called direct object. It may be the answer to what or whom.

जब वाक्य में केवल एक Object होता है, तो उसे Direct Object कहा जाता है। यह What या Whom का जवाब हो सकता है।

Ex. Rohan teaches English.

Rohan teaches us.

They play cricket.

She speaks English.

2. Indirect Object :- When there are two objects in the sentence, the object related to What is called object and the object related to Whom is called indirect object.

जब किसी सेंटेंस में दो ऑब्जेक्ट्स होता है तो जो ऑब्जेक्ट What से संबंधित होता है वह Direct ऑब्जेक्ट कहलाता है तथा जो ऑब्जेक्ट Whom से संबंधित होता है वह Indirect ऑब्जेक्ट कहलाता है।

Ex. Rohan teaches us English.

She gave me a book.

पहले सेंटेंस में US जो कि Whom का रिप्लाई है Indirect ऑब्जेक्ट होगा तथा English जोकि What का रिप्लाई है Direct ऑब्जेक्ट होगा। इसी तरह दूसरे वाक्य में Me जो कि Whom का रिप्लाई है Indirect ऑब्जेक्ट होगा, तथा आप Book जो की What का रिप्लाई है Direct ऑब्जेक्ट होगा।
