THE SCARY NIGHT – MORAL STORY

It was 10 p.m. I was alone at home. Suddenly, I heard a knock on the door. I expected no one at that hour of time as all my family members had gone to attend a close family wedding whereas I was supposed to stay at home due to my board exams. Repeated knocking at the door scared me to death. A chill went down my spine.

Suddenly, the lights went off and this only worsened my fear. Then I saw some shadows outside the window. My heartbeat increased as it was dense dark outside, and I couldn’t imagine in my wildest thoughts who could be there. I geared up, gathered courage and reached the window. Slowly I pulled the curtains and looked outside but the shadow was not clear at all and it was not a single shadow but four or five shadows.

This was enough for me to believe that some scoundrels were there at the door. I looked for my cricket bat, held it tightly and reached for the main door of the living room. Although it was cold winter, I was still down with sweat. With a sudden jerk, I opened the door and lifted my bat to hit but I was surprised to see that it was my family members who had come early because of me.

I felt relieved and embraced my mother tightly. That night I slept with my parents, holding my mother‘s hand. It was really a scary night!

Moral – ‘Do not loose courage even in the worst situation.’

रात के 10 बज रहे थे। मैं घर पर अकेला था। अचानक, मैंने दरवाजे पर दस्तक सुनी। मुझे उस समय किसी की उम्मीद नहीं थी क्योंकि मेरे परिवार के सभी सदस्य एक करीबी पारिवारिक शादी में शामिल होने गए थे, जबकि मुझे अपनी बोर्ड परीक्षाओं के कारण घर पर ही रहना था। बार-बार दरवाजे पर दस्तक ने मुझे मौत के घाट उतार दिया। एक सर्द मेरी रीढ़ में उतर गई।

अचानक बत्ती गुल हो गई और इससे मेरा डर और भी बढ़ गया। फिर मैंने खिड़की के बाहर कुछ परछाइयाँ देखीं। मेरे दिल की धड़कन बढ़ गई क्योंकि बाहर घना अंधेरा था, और मैं अपने बेतहाशा विचारों में कल्पना नहीं कर सकता था कि कौन हो सकता है। मैं तैयार हुआ, हिम्मत जुटाई और खिड़की के पास पहुंचा। मैंने धीरे-धीरे पर्दे खींचे और बाहर देखा लेकिन छाया बिल्कुल स्पष्ट नहीं थी और यह एक छाया नहीं बल्कि चार-पाँच छायाएँ थीं।

इतना ही मेरे लिए यक़ीन करने के लिए काफ़ी था कि दरवाज़े पर कुछ बदमाश थे। मैंने अपने क्रिकेट के बल्ले की तलाश की, उसे कसकर पकड़ लिया और लिविंग रूम के मुख्य दरवाजे तक पहुंच गया। हालाँकि कड़ाके की सर्दी थी, फिर भी मैं पसीने से तरबतर था। अचानक झटके से मैंने दरवाजा खोला और हिट करने के लिए अपना बल्ला उठाया लेकिन मैं यह देखकर हैरान रह गया कि मेरे घर वाले ही मेरी वजह से जल्दी आ गए थे।

मैंने राहत महसूस की और अपनी माँ को कसकर गले लगा लिया। उस रात मैं अपनी मां का हाथ पकड़कर अपने माता-पिता के साथ सोया। सच में वो एक डरावनी रात थी!

Moral – ‘बुरी से बुरी स्थिति में भी हिम्मत न हारें।’
