In this post, I will outline some of the most important phrasal verbs starting with the letter “A,” along with their Hindi meanings and examples. By familiarizing themselves with phrasal verbs, students will be better equipped to understand and communicate effectively in English.

1. Abide by – Accept or follow a decision or rule. [किसी निर्णय या नियम को स्वीकार करना या उसका पालन करना।]

Example:-
You’ll have to abide by the rules of the club.

2. Account for – To explain [वर्णन करना / कारण बताना]

Example:-
He was unable to account for the error.

3. Ache for – Want something [कुछ चाहना]

Example:-
My sisters have been far away a month, I am aching for them.

4. Act on – To take action because of something like information received. [कुछ इस प्रकार की सूचना प्राप्त होने पर कार्यवाही करना।]

Example:-
The police acted on the information received from spy on this case.

5. Act on – To take action as a result of advice, information, etc. [सलाह, सूचना आदि के परिणामस्वरूप कार्रवाई करना।]

Example:-
Why didn’t you act on her suggestion?

6. Act out – Perform something with actions [कार्यों के साथ कुछ करना]

Example:-
She acted out Shakespearean play in a theatre.

7. Act up – Behave badly [बुरी तरह से बर्ताव करना]

Example:-
Meera is acting up with me. I think she might have some problems with me.

8. Act upon – To take action [कदम उठाना]

Example:-
You must act upon the advice of your parents

9. Add up – To make a mathematical total [जोड़ना]

Example:-
The figures add up to 100.

10. Add up – to Come to a certain amount or figure [किसी निश्चित राशि या आंकड़े पर आना]

Example:-
The cost of the house adds up to a million dollars.

18. Argue out – Argue about a problem to find a solution [समाधान खोजने के लिए किसी समस्या पर बहस करना]

Example:-
We have to argue our clashes out.

19. Ask about – Ask how someone is doing professionally or in terms of health [किसी के स्वास्थ्य या पेशा या रोजगार के बारे में पूछना]

Example:-
She asked about my mother’s health.

20. Ask after – Enquire about someone’s health [किसी के स्वास्थ्य के बारे में पूछना]

Example:-
She asked after you and I informed her about your illness.

23. Ask for – Request to have or given [पाने या देने का अनुरोध करना]

Example:-

24. Ask in – Ask to enter [प्रवेश करने के लिए कहना]

28. Abound with – To have a lot of something [बहुत कुछ होना]

Example:-

29. Accede to – To permit for [के लिए अनुमति देना]

Example:-

30. Accustom to – To become used to [आदी हो जाना]

Example:-

36 Align with – To publicly support an organization, a set of opinions or a person that you agree with

Example:-
Newspapers traditionally align themselves with one political party.

37 Allude to – To mention something in an indirect way or in a few words [परोक्ष रूप से या कुछ शब्दों में किसी बात का उल्लेख करना]

Example:-
You can now allude to some basic points of research.

38. Appeal for – For making a serious request [एक गंभीर अनुरोध करना]

Example:-
The victim’s family appealed for bringing culprits behind the bars.

39 Appeal to – Try to persuade / To be attractive or interesting to somebody [किसी के लिए आकर्षक या दिलचस्प होना]

Example:-
The idea of living in the country doesn’t appeal to me at all.

40 Appertain to – To belong or refer to somebody/something [किसी व्यक्ति/वस्तु से संबंधित या संदर्भित होना]

Example:-
These figures appertain to last year’s sales.

Example:-

44 Aspire to – To have a strong desire to achieve or to become something

Example:-
She aspired to a scientific career.

45 Associate with somebody – to spend time with somebody, especially a person or people that somebody else does not approve of

Example:-
I don’t like you associating with those people.

46 Attend to somebody/something – To deal with somebody/something; to take care of somebody/something

Example:-
I have some urgent business to attend to.

47 Attribute to – To say or believe that something is the result of a particular thing

Example:-
She attributes her success to hard work and a little luck.

48 Avail yourself of – to make use of something, especially an opportunity or offer

Example:-
She must avail herself of the out of the opportunity.

49 Awake to – To become aware of

Example:-
I awoke to the fact that she was ditching me.
मैं इस तथ्य से अवगत हूँ कि वह मुझे धोखा दे रही थी।

50 Arse about – To annoy or irritate / To waste time by behaving in a silly way

Example:-
